Bill Cosby’s Prosecutor Kristen Gibbons Feden To Receive Victim Rights Law Center’s Annual Leadership Award Two Days After Cosby Sentencing

Boston, MA — On Thursday, September 27th the Victim Rights Law Center (VRLC) will celebrate their 15th Anniversary at the 2018 Shining Star Gala, presenting their Leadership Award to attorney Kristen Gibbons Feden who, as stated by The New York Times, is the “prosecutor who stared down Bill Cosby.” Introducing Feden will be Congresswoman elect Ayanna Pressley. Past VRLC Leadership Awardees include: Gloria Steinem, Professor Anita Hill, Congresswoman-elect Ayanna Pressley, actress and activist Ashley Judd, The Boston Globe Spotlight Team, the first White House Advisor on Violence Against Women Lynn Rosenthal, Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, former MA First Lady Diane Patrick, and MA Attorney General Martha Coakley. All proceeds raised support the VRLC in leading a new response to sexual violence.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be given VRLC’s Leadership Award and to join past recipients that I sincerely admire. VRLC has a powerful legacy of ensuring that survivors, who have long been silenced, receive the justice they deserve,” states Feden. “I am also grateful that through service to survivors I have been able to accomplish something that VRLC considers worthy of recognition. I am pleased to accept this award and share it with survivors, advocates, and supporters alike, whose continuous efforts have helped, and continue to help, change the landscape for victims of crime and ensure that they are heard, respected, and embraced.”

The VRLC has followed Attorney Feden’s efforts since 2015 and the subsequent first trial hung jury. Feden then joined the Philadelphia law firm Stradley Ronon. Feden took a leave from the firm to serve as a special prosecutor for Cosby’s retrial which led to a conviction. Sentencing for Cosby is scheduled for September 24th and 25th. Feden will then come to Boston to accept the VRLC’s Leadership Award just days later on September 27th.

“In the era of #MeToo and #TIMESUP, we need attorneys like Kristen Gibbons Feden who will not back down to perpetrators, even those as influential as Bill Cosby,” says Stacy Malone, Esq., the Executive Director of the Victim Rights Law Center. “Attorney Feden has championed the rights of sexual assault survivors throughout her career but the leadership she demonstrated in both the trial and retrial of Cosby was pivotal to the conviction. The Victim Rights Law Center is very pleased to honor Attorney Feden with the 2018 Leadership Award just days after Cosby’s sentencing to recognize the first big legal victory of the #MeToo movement.”
